Orach ‘Copper Plume’ is one of those plants that earns its space twice over. Early in the season, young leafy stems make an unexpected and beautiful addition to spring bouquets, bringing soft texture and an earthy, gathered feel. Left to mature, the plants transform into tall, architectural stems topped with delicate seedpods in shades of dusty rose and sun-bleached moss. The effect is dramatic, natural, and perfect for large midsummer arrangements.
This hardy annual adds height, movement, and a nuanced color palette that solves the problem of needing foliage that feels intentional rather than filler. Whether harvested young or fully grown, it brings a sense of scale and quiet sophistication to floral work.

Seed Sowing & Growing Notes:
Start seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before last frost, then transplant outdoors once all danger of frost has passed. Orach can also be direct-seeded into the garden after frost for a simple, low-effort option.
Harvesting & Vase Life:
Harvest during the foliage stage for spring use or wait until seedpods form for dramatic midsummer stems. After harvesting foliage, dip the lower stems in boiling water for 7 to 10 seconds or use Quick Dip, then place in cool water. Seeded stems require no special treatment. Expect a vase life of 7 to 14 days.
