Larkspur ‘Earl Grey’
ETA: Shipping begins Mid February
Moody, metallic, and impossible to forget.
Larkspur ‘Earl Grey’ is one of those rare heirloom varieties that feels truly irreplaceable. Towering spring spikes are covered in the most exquisite dusty purple-gray blooms with a soft metallic sheen, a color that simply does not exist elsewhere in the cutting garden. It’s refined, dramatic, and endlessly sought after, which explains why florists fight over it and gardeners never seem to grow enough.
Blooming early and thriving in cool conditions, this hardy annual fills a crucial gap in the season with height, texture, and a color palette that elevates everything around it. If your spring arrangements ever feel predictable, this is the must-grow that changes the entire mood. It also dries beautifully, allowing that signature color to live on well past fresh bloom time.
Because the most memorable flowers are the ones you cannot replace.
Important Note:
All parts of larkspur are poisonous, including the seeds. Please use caution when planting around children and pets.

Seed Sowing & Growing Notes:
Larkspur performs best when direct-seeded. Sow in late fall or early spring, or start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost and transplant out while temperatures are still cool. Seeds can be slow to germinate indoors, so chilling them in the freezer for 10 to 14 days before sowing helps improve success. Extremely cold-tolerant, larkspur can be fall-planted even in very cold climates.
Harvesting & Vase Life:
Harvest when about one-third of the blossoms on a stem are open. Larkspur is highly sensitive to ethylene, so keep it away from ripening fruit. Expect a vase life of 5 to 7 days. For drying, allow all but the top 3 to 4 blooms to open, then hang stems upside down in a warm, dark place away from bright light for about 2 weeks.
A truly special spring bloom that brings depth, rarity, and quiet luxury to every arrangement.
