I'm using my stasher bags for everything I can think of to avoid using dreaded single-use plastics. I love that I can use stasher bags for all types of purposes in all types of places. I keep stashers in my backpack full of snacks and tea bags, in my freezer full of smoothie supplies, and bring them with my when grocery shopping for the bulk bins. And if I am traveling, I always have at least a few on me for storing my makeup, bringing healthy snacks, and carrying all my supplements.
I started to think about all the ways I could use stasher bags, and I just couldn’t stop! As a sustainability junkie, it’s kind of fun to think of all the possibilities. So, I am sharing 50 ways you can use your bags— from the beach, to the plane, to your office, to your fridge, and more!
50 Ways to Use Your Stasher Bags
For the Eats
- Keep food fresh in the refrigerator - cut avocados, herbs, tortillas… donuts :)
- Store leftovers from a home-cooked meal.
- Make stasher a to-go container if you take food home from a restaurant.
- Bring a few to the farmer’s market to fill up with greens, berries, or any loose items that need a bag.
- Fill up in the bulk section of your grocery store, just make sure to weigh it first to get the tare. I have mine memorized I used them so much :) Snack: 56g, Sandwich: 70g.
- Pack a zero waste lunch or snacks for a road-trip, beach day or the zoo.
- Portion out “smoothie packs” for the freezer— add all the fruits/veggies and then dump into the blender with some liquid and blend!
- Steam vegetables in the microwave or boiling water.
- Marinate a juicy cut of meat or fish.
- Stash and mash zesty guacamole.
- Make your own ice cream.
- Steam and smush nutritious produce for healthy homemade baby food.
- Make the perfect steak with the sous vide cooking method.
- Quick-pickle some veggies or make homemade sauerkraut.
- Keep veggie scraps or bones in the freezer for a future broth.
- Portion out batch meals in the freezer, like chill or soup. Store your full stashers horizontally to save space. Pro tip: Write the date on the bag with a ball-point pen or dry erase marker-- it wipes off with a damp cloth!
- Pop popcorn in the microwave.
- Make an omelet or scrambled eggs.
- Revive stale bread in the oven.
- Make chocolate bark! Melt some chocolate in your stasher in the microwave, then add nuts, seeds, adaptogens, berries, and then freeze flat.
- Take matcha and other adaptogens for a beverage on the go.
- Bring healthy snacks or candy to the movies.
- Replace your salad jars with salad bags.
- Keep your loose leaf tea fresh.
- Freeze cookies, muffins and pancakes to eat individually when you want them.
